Individual Tuition and Private Groups

These programmes focus on improving your language proficiency in everyday communication, covering areas such as speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. You may decide to work on all these skills or just some of them.

Example topics include family and relationships, travel and tourism, health and fitness, shopping and entertainment, and current events.

However, these are just examples. As your course is uniquely designed around your needs and wants, you will be able to choose your target skills and topics, allowing you to improve your English according to your areas of interest and preferences. Always at your own pace.

Group Lessons

Group lessons provide a comprehensive focus on all four language skills, including speaking, listening, reading and writing, along with grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Classes are limited to a maximum of 12 students, ensuring personalised feedback and ample practice. These courses emphasize effective communication and practical activities which will enable you to use Thai in real-world situations confidently and accurately.

Upon completion, you will receive a Certificate of Attendance from International House Bangkok stating the focus and duration of your course, and the highest level achieved.

Our approach to second language learning and teaching emphasizes communication and meaningful interaction as the main goals of instruction, with a focus on developing learners’ ability to use language for real-life purposes.

Communication: learning a language requires language use and not only language study. Communication should be the goal of language instruction.

Interaction: authentic and meaningful communication can only be achieved through interaction. Pair and group work should be prioritized in classroom activities.

Context: learners should be made aware of how to use language accurately and fluently, but also in a way that conforms to social and contextual norms.

Integration: competent language users are able to use all the language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing). Instruction on these skills should be integrated from the beginning.

Errors: language learning is a process of creative construction and involves trial and error. Errors should be viewed as stepping stones for development.

Materials: classroom materials and activities should reflect real-life situations and tasks, with a focus on social functions as well as linguistic structures.

Teachers: teachers should be viewed as facilitators and use their skills to manage interactions among learners while providing the necessary input and feedback.

Motivation: motivation plays a critical role in the successful acquisition of a foreign language. Classroom activities should reflect the interests and wants of the learners.

Personalisation: every learner is different and individual learning needs and preferences should be given priority when planning and delivering lesson.

LEVEL 1 (40 hours)

Everyday Thai Speaking: Beginner

Start speaking from day 1! Learn basic communication skills such as greetings, using numbers, introducing yourself, and shopping.

LEVEL 2 (40 hours)

Everyday Thai Speaking: Elementary
Learn more speaking skills and vocabulary for everyday life in Thailand. Practise your functional language skills in a range of topics such as making appointments, telling the time, taking leave and expressing good wishes.

LEVEL 3 (40 hours)

Everyday Thai Reading Too: Elementary

Learn the Thai alphabet from scratch! By the end of this course you will be able to read and write sentences in Thai.

LEVEL 4 (40 hours)

Everyday Thai All 4 Skills: Elementary

In this course you will continue to improve your reading fluency, speaking and listening. You will also begin to develop your writing skills and expand your vocabulary.

LEVEL 1

Speaking & Listening Thai Level 1 (40 hours)

Learn basic Thai conversation skills, including greetings and self-introduction. The course focuses on building a strong foundation for speaking Thai through the following topics:

– Basic Thai pronunciation

– Greetings and self-introduction

– Numbers, Classifiers (quantifiers used in Thai)

Reading in Thai Level 1 (40 hours)

A comprehensive introduction to reading Thai script, focusing on Thai consonants, vowels, tone rules, and syllable structure to help learners read basic Thai words and short sentences confidently.

Writing in Thai Level 1 (40 hours)

This section reinforces and builds on the vocabulary covered in the Basics course. Learn the Thai alphabet, how to read and write Thai letters, and the rules of tones.

LEVEL 2

Speaking & Listening Thai Level 2 (40 hours)

This level helps learners engage in more practical conversations, expanding on real-life situations. Topics include:

– Asking for and giving directions

– Family and kinship terms in Thai

– Communicating over the phone

– Past, Future, Plans (Time indication)

– At the restaurant

Reading in Thai Level 2 (40 hours)

This course focuses on improving reading fluency and clarity through everyday sentence structures and commonly used
expressions. Learners will develop confidence in reading short conversations and daily communication in Thai.

Writing in Thai Level 2 (40 hours)

This section reinforces and builds on the vocabulary covered in the Basics course. Learn the Thai alphabet, how to read and write Thai letters, and the rules of tones. Begin writing short sentences for everyday communication more effectively by learning through the following topics:

– Self-introduction and hobbies

– Writing everyday messages

– Interactive conversations

LEVEL 3

Speaking & Listening Thai Level 3 (40 hours)

At this level, learners can speak longer, explain opinions, tell stories, and handle more complex real-life situations in Thai.

Reading in Thai Level 3 (40 hours)

An advanced-level reading course designed to build strong comprehension skills through more intensive content. Learners will read and analyze complex dialogues and advanced conversation texts used in real-life Thai communication.

Writing in Thai Level 3 (40 hours)

Use writing effectively in situations such as taking notes, writing brief messages, or explanations through the following topics:

– Short stories and other passages

– Translating thoughts into written Thai

– Writing social media posts and journal entries

Business Thai Level 1 (40 hours) 

Learn how to use Thai in workplace and professional situations, not only daily life:

– Making appointment and changing schedule

– Academic Communication

Business Thai Level 2 (40 hours)

The focus moves from basic office communication to formal Thai used in real business environments, negotiation, and presentations.
