Your experience matters
Essential course if you have never learnt grammar at school. I honestly didn’t know the difference between an adjective and adverb, or what the present perfect continuous was! I’m glad I didn’t jump into the CELTA without some basic knowledge of grammar.
I don’t know how I managed to teach for the past 2 years without this kind of grammar knowledge. I feel a much more competent and honest teacher now. A must if you need to gain some credibility as an English teacher.
Although I had studied English grammar extensively as a learner, it was a very useful revision. The grammar topics were covered in detail and the trainers also highlighted the methodology and plenty of techniques for teaching.
Grammar has always been a difficult thing for me to teach. I learnt a lot during the course, especially what grammar books to consult and how to identify concepts like meaning and form. It definitely made my life easier during the CELTA!
